Christian DiStefano is a board certified acupuncturist licensed in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
He is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo and the prestigious Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York.
He became interested in acupuncture after witnessing some of what he now recognizes as the everyday
miracles that one gets to witness and experience in an acupuncture practice.
He entered the field with the philosophy that there is an innate healer in everyone, and the job of the
acupuncturist is to find and awaken this healer. During his time practicing he has found this to be
true. Perhaps the greatest reward in practice is treating a person that has nearly given up hope of
help, and helping that person find the way to heal. He continues to be fascinated by the fact that
insertion of ultrathin needles in one part of the body bring health, and relief to a distal extremity
or organ.
The rigorous training at the Tri-State college requires mastery of 3 styles of acupuncture. Acupuncture
Physical Medicine is a style developed by the founder of the school using meridian theory combined
with the trigger point work of the late Dr. Janet Travell. Kiiko Matsumoto style acupuncture is an
eclectic Japanese style acupuncture that incorporates the works of several Japanese masters of
acupuncture, as well as a Japanese interpretation of 5 element theory. TCM is traditional Chinese
Medicine. This is the most common style. It is the primary style practice in China today.
Chris has also takes extensive continuing education classes in acupuncture while practicing. These
include Dr. Tan's style of acupuncture, Korean Hand acupuncture, and facial rejuvenation using
acupuncture. His mastery of these different styles gives him depth of treatment. If one style is
not producing immediate results, he will switch to another.
Christian is a member in good standing with the Foundation for Wellness Professionals. A national non-profit
whose members devote their time educating the public through screenings and lectures on pertinent health issues.
All workshops emphasize wellness and preventative care as the keys to good health.
About Jill
Jill Chiorazzo graduated from Tri-State College with a
Masters of Science in Acupuncture. At Tri-State she was educated in three different styles of Acupuncture along with different
Chinese Medical modalities like moxa, cupping, gua sha, and tui na massage. Acupuncture Physical Medicine is a style developed by
Dr. Janett Travel that helps greatly with pain conditions and chronic stress and fatigue. It utilizes the needles to release trigger
points that have developed in the body with repetitive strain, injury and bad posture and alignment. Trigger points are tight bands
of tissue that often cause and refer pain, if they are not release they often become fibrotic and may lead to chronic pain.
Traditional Chinese Medicine and Kiiko Matsumoto style are the two other styles she has studied. TCM style was developed in China and
used for thousands of years to successfully treat a variety of conditions like pain, insomnia, illness and stress. KM is a Japanese
style that is based heavily upon palpation of the abdomen and releasing reflexes. This style uses very small needles and uses very
little stimulation. It's a great treatment for someone who is needle sensitive.
Jill felt drawn to Chinese Medicine as she found there was more to health than the western medical model where people were prescribed
drugs to mask their symptoms and the underlying problem frequently went unaddressed. Through acupuncture and Chinese Medicine she has found
that these problems can be addressed and patients no longer had to be told they were something they had to "live with".
