Acupuncture Services for
White Plains, Yonkers, Bronxville, NY

Acupuncture is a key method derived from traditional Chinese medicine. Practitioners of acupuncture believe that an imbalance of yin and yang results in physical and mental issues. The body’s natural energy (qi) has been disrupted, but acupuncture redirects it so that the body is healed naturally and restored to its correct balance. Frequently Asked Questions
What does acupuncture feel like?

Acupuncture needles are so thin that most people barely feel them. The sensation can be described as an ache or pressure. A more unique reaction is the feeling of a sensation traveling along the meridian pathways. Overall, the feeling will be satisfying and rejuvenating.

How many treatments will I need?

Acupuncture is most effective with more than one treatment. The answer to this question depends on the severity of your illness or condition; preventative treatments will be scheduled as needed, acute conditions may require 10 to 15 treatments, and chronic conditions may require on-going treatments.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes, acupuncture is safe. The acupuncturists at Scarsdale Health & Wellness undergo detailed education on the body and techniques required. Additionally, Christian DiStefano at Scarsdale Health & Wellness is a board-certified and licensed acupuncturist who uses sterilized, single-use needles.

What will my first visit be like?

Initial acupuncture appointments at Scarsdale Health & Wellness include a comprehensive wellness questionnaire and discussion. That way, we can personalize your acupuncture treatment plan to meet your particular needs. Following our discussion, we will complete an assessment of your pulse and tongue.

Once we’ve come up with your treatment plan, we will begin your treatment. Approximately 20 needles will be inserted (location depends on your condition), and you will be asked to relax for 15 to 20 minutes. Often, the relaxation portion of the treatment lulls patients into sleep.
